Unmask The Invisible Chains

What if you could break free from the invisible chains that have secretly been holding you back?

These "hidden" underlying commitments are like secret agents, covertly shaping your decisions and limiting your success. It's high time you unmask them and set yourself free!

Your Underlying Commitments are those secret scripts that were unknowingly written in childhood, often in response to a challenging experience. 📜💭 These are different than limiting beliefs.

Picture this: you're a young child, facing life's uncertainties, and you make promises to yourself deep down about how you'll handle whatever comes your way. These commitments, while well-intentioned at the time, can become a little tricky to spot in our adult life, as they operate beneath the surface. But recognizing them is the first step to unlocking your full potential. 🌄

Let's put these commitments into perspective with some examples:

1️⃣ "I’ll stay quiet so I won’t be called stupid."

2️⃣ "I’ll hide my feelings so I won’t get punished."

3️⃣ "Nobody’s going to tell me what to do."

4️⃣ "I’ll control everything I can so I can feel safe."

5️⃣ "I’ll push people away before they reject me."

6️⃣ "I'll keep busy, so I know I'm living well." 🏃♀️💼

We created these commitments as shields to protect ourselves, but here's the twist: they now control us more than we control them. 🛡️ They shape our daily choices, limit our potential, and sometimes even sabotage our dreams. It's like having an old, outdated software running our lives.

Now, let me share a personal example with you: 🙋♀️

One of my underlying commitments developed from the experience of losing my father when I was just 4 years old. To deal with the uncertainty and cope, I kept myself busy and got lost in my own creative world. Unknowingly, this was in response to my unprocessed feelings of grief. This coping mechanism eventually turned into a life-long commitment: "I’m committed to struggling’ as it showed up in my life by feeling the need to be busy all the time, with work, appointments, projects- always on the move. I think the only time I genuinely stopped was when I booked a vacation.

For me, as an adult, living on the edge of exhaustion equaled living well. I accepted this as my new normal. To succeed in this endeavor (at least for a while), I honed perfectionistic traits and set super high standards for myself and what I could accomplish. I did all this, while maintaining a seemingly ordinary life—marriage, raising a daughter, and yes, throwing an unforgettable N'Sync-themed birthday party for my 9 year old Hayley, where I thought of every -single- detail. Everyone around me was amazed. My family benefitted greatly by my over working and over giving!

However, over time, this commitment became exhausting and prevented me from fully enjoying life and experiencing optimal health. It took until I was 50 years old for life to smack me across the face with an illness which forced me to have to look within and face how I was living my life, on the proverbial treadmill.

But, I didn’t know these commitments existed or that I even made the commitment to "struggle" until I went through the process of Reinvention Coaching years ago. The process allowed me to see the connection between my current behavior and when it was set in place so long ago. I was fascinated and was blown away by the immediate benefits I gained with this new understanding about myself. Wow, I could rewrite the script and start living life on my terms, and not by an old promise I made to myself? It took being led through the process and integrating the learnings that helped me solidify transforming my habit of always biting off more than I could chew!

Understanding your underlying commitments can be a game-changer. It's like finding the keys to unlock your fullest potential, and it's precisely what I'm here to help you with as a Reinvention Coach.
